Rosie Jean’s is a cute little child-friendly cafe with a big outdoor terrace situated on Caine Road nearby Woodland Preschool. With a charming facade and quaint welcoming interior, it’s easy to spot.
The gluten free cake slice was very dense and almost brownie like, with a heavy layer of solid icing that was rich without the sickly sweetness that many icings have. The flavour and texture was smooth and heavy and rich, which I really like but may be more suitable for chocolate lovers than those looking for a light fluffy chocolate option.
Having enjoyed Saffron’s delicious cupcakes many times in the past, I’m very familiar with them and this is what they offer at Rosie Jean’s. Very indulgent and fun, dark and moist with rainbow shape sprinkles atop the super sweet, rich, fluffy and dense cake, I adore them but nowadays with my various food intolerances don’t think I can brave the sugar migraine that would follow eating one.
However, the gluten free cake didn’t give me any headache at all, and left me thinking that I could definitely consider this as a future option for when I want an indulgent chocolate cake that won’t leave me worried about my poor little brain. I do hope they keep it on the menu!
